2024 Tanweer Jameel Program Concludes its Summer Trips to Reward 40 Orphan-Students - 1

The 2024 Tanweer Jameel Program concluded its summer trips for academically outstanding orphans. It included organizing two trips to the Kingdom of Thailand for girls and another to the Republic of Turkey for boys. The trips departed in July, with the participation of 40 male and female students between the ages of 13 and 18, who demonstrated exceptional talent, remarkable commitment, and outstanding academic performance throughout the academic year.

The program was supervised by the Community Jameel Saudi Foundation, in cooperation with the General Administration for Orphan Care and Empowerment at the Social Rehabilitation and Guidance Deputyship in the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development. To achieve optimal benefit from the Tanweer Jameel Program intellectually and socially, the participating students underwent a hands-on training workshop prior to their trip, as they learned about personal patterns using the “DISC” management tool, which is one of the most renowned and reliable tools to understand the motives behind human behavior, personal patterns, and how they can influence responses towards people and life events. This workshop aimed to help students enhance their interpersonal and communication skills.

The female students’ trip to Thailand began on July 1 and continued until July 10. Meanwhile, the male students’ trip to Turkey began on July 4 and continued until July 14. The two trips included many interesting activities and various educational events, and they also included visits to more than 30 tourist, cultural, historical, scientific, and entertainment attractions in the two countries. One of the most prominent activities of the program was the meeting with the Saudi ambassadors in Thailand and Turkey. The two trips were distinguished by a comprehensive program that combined entertainment, exploring new cultures and histories, and developing the personal, leadership, and creative capabilities of all participating students.

They also spent a day full of adventures at Andamanda Water Park, a full day on Phi Phi Island in Phuket, and enjoyed wandering around Safari World and the Marine Park in the capital, Bangkok. At the end of the program, the students were honored to meet His Excellency the Saudi Ambassador to Thailand, Mr. Abdul Rahman Al-Suhaibani, who welcomed the group warmly and thanked the Foundation and the Ministry for encouraging outstanding orphans by organizing such trips.

The boys’ trip program wasn’t less exciting and fun. The students visited several Turkish cities, such as Istanbul, Antalya, and Yalova. They enjoyed experiencing many adventures in natural landmarks, such as climbing the Olympic Mountain, riding the chairlift, going on the Bosphorus tour, and having a full day in the Land of Legend and water games. The students enjoyed spending time relaxing amidst the green nature and picturesque atmosphere in the Duden, Yalova, and Maashouqia Waterfalls area.

The boys’ trip also included visiting many tourist, cultural, and historical landmarks, such as the Kaleiçi area in Antalya, the Sultanahmet area, the Ayasofya Mosque, Topkapi Palace, and the popular markets in Istanbul. They visited Akdeniz University and the Turkish University (Başakşehir) campus to see the buildings, classrooms, and laboratories, and learn about scientific and cultural activities. The trip also concluded with a meeting with His Excellency the Saudi Consul in Istanbul, Mr. Abdul Majeed bin Hamad Al Dosari, where he expressed his pleasure in meeting the students and his encouragement for the continuation of such programs.

Commenting on the conclusion of Tanweer Jameel’s trip, Dr. May Taibah, a member of the Board of Trustees of the Community Jameel Saudi Foundation, said: “These trips come as a result of our commitment to achieving the social and economic development goals stipulated in Vision 2030 in cooperation with the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development. I am pleased to conclude the 2024 two trips to Turkey and Thailand, and their success in achieving their desired goals of enriching students’ thinking, developing their personal and leadership skills, building cultural and scientific communication skills, and enjoying their time. We hope that this will enhance the integration and empowerment of our orphan children into the society. I am confident that the male and female students participating in “Tanweer Jameel” trips will have a positive impact on their lives and future, and on their society and country as a whole.”

The participating students expressed their gratitude and happiness for this trip and the impact they felt on themselves. A student called Hany from Al-Tarbiyah Care House for Boys submitted a letter of gratitude to Community Jameel Saudi Foundation and the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development, in which he said on behalf of his fellow students: “This trip was a window to a new culture and ancient history, which has expanded our awareness and strengthened our love of learning and exploration.
