Community Jameel Saudi announced the successful completion of its 2022 international trips for deserving students, comprising two trips to Malaysia, one for boys (July 23 to August 2) and the other for girls (July 21 to July  30), featuring 40 students aged between 13 and 18 years from orphanages across the Kingdom, all of whom demonstrated exceptional ability, commitment, and performance over the academic year.

The 2022 edition of the Tanweer programme trip included cultural, scientific, educational and recreational visits to the Malaysian capital Kuala Lumpur, and a host of unique activities designed to nurture and develop participants’ sporting, mental and intellectual abilities. Activities included visits to a water theme park and the city of Penang, touring its handicrafts factory and museum. They also visited Scape theme park, and the Lost World of Tambun where which they headed to the zoo and smart games city. They finally travelled to Ping Island to enjoy a stroll in nature.

Commenting on Tanweer Jameel’s trip this year, Ibtihal Ali Al-Saawi, Director General of the General Department for the Care and Empowerment of Orphans at the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development, said: “We are delighted to continue our partnership with Community Jameel Saudi, which started in 2005 for male students and later expanded to include the girls in 2018. The initiatives positively contribute to developing our young male and female orphans’ capabilities, helping develop social skills, motivating them to achieve academic excellence, and helping them embark on new experience in new countries.”

Abdallah Talab, Manager of Social Programmes at Community Jameel Saudi, said: “Through the Tanweer Orphan Support Program, Community Jameel Saudi continues to support and award outstanding academic performance across orphanages in the Kingdom. These annual trips foster a spirit of competition among the participating students. They represent an important opportunity to learn about new cultures and visit the most prominent tourist and industrial attractions in the countries we select each year in cooperation with the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development.”

Nabil Ali from the Model Education Foundation in Abha and one of the participants in the Tanweer Boys’ 2022 trip, said: “I was very pleased to participate in this journey awarding those who excel academically. In addition to the opportunity to get to know new countries, cultures and attractions, such trips instil a sense of competition between me and my brothers at the orphanage and push me to excel every year. I would like to thank the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development and Community Jameel Saudi for the opportunity.”

Maha Mansour, a kindergarten student in Jeddah and one of the participants in the 2022 trip said: “I am proud to have been chosen to participate in this year’s Tanweer Jameel trip because such trips are a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. The journey allowed me to acquire basic life skills and helped me learn about new cultures. Such journeys that award high achievers reinforce the spirit of competition among students and the commitment to deliver outstanding performance throughout the academic year.

Since the launch of Community Jameel’s Tanweer Orphan Support Programme in 2005, 360 students have successfully participated. Past Tanweer international trips included visits to European countries, such as France and Spain, as well as Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Turkey, and other Arab countries.
