The 10-day tour is organised by Community Jameel as part of its Tanweer Orphan Support Programme, in collaboration with the Ministry of Labour and Social Development. Saudi Airlines is the official carrier.

Following trips to France, Turkey, Malaysia, Singapore, Spain, Japan, and the United Arab Emirates in previous years, the 2018 Indonesia visit will begin on July 1, enabling 20 top performing orphan students to visit recreational, cultural, and educational attractions.

They will also explore Bali and Jakarta, along with two supervisors from the social affairs department, an educator, and a representative from Community Jameel.

Tanweer rewards orphan students aged 14-17 who have achieved outstanding academic results with an annual international trip, expanding their cultural horizons and motivating them to make more progress.

Tanweer is part of Community Jameel’s social responsibility towards this societal group who have the right to care and support. For the first time, this year’s programme will include a trip for academically outstanding female orphan students. This will take place to the UAE in August.

Acting General Manager of the Programmes and Activities Department in the Ministry of Labour and Social Development, Nasser Bin Saleh Al Marshoudi said: “We have been the permanent partner of the programme since its inception in order to activate the role of cooperation between the private and public sectors in line with the vision of the Kingdom 2030. We are committed through such initiatives to have a positive impact on the social development in the Kingdom as well as the development of our orphans children’ capabilities, to help improve their behavior, raise their motivation in the academic excellence and acquire new experiences while discovering other countries experiences through these trips.

Abdalla Taleb, Manager of Social and Health initiatives at Community Jameel, commented: “Through the Tanweer Programme, now in its 14th year, we seek to bring happiness to orphan students, develop their cultural and life skills, and motivate them to achieve better academic performance.

Tanweer Programme for Orphans was launched in 2005 to make a big difference for orphans and brighten their lives. It operates in partnership with the private sector, represented by Community Jameel, and the government sector, represented by the Ministry of Labour and Social Development.
