Bab Rizq Jameel Announces an Initiative to Offer Employment for People with Disabilities
- Competency Development
In line with its mission of empowering community members and providing them with training and employment opportunities, Bab Rizq Jameel, a subsidiary of Community Jameel Saudi Foundation, has launched the “People with Disabilities Employment Initiative” in cooperation with the Hemam Jameel, which is a program that is affiliated with the foundation that focuses on social and economic empowerment of people with disabilities in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
This initiative stems from the foundation’s belief in the importance of integrating people with disabilities into society and providing them with appropriate job opportunities. It aims to achieve the goals of Vision 2030 for integrating people with disabilities into the wider labor market and raising their standards of living.
The Employment Initiative for People with Disabilities will provide various vocational training opportunities in several sectors, such as e-commerce, artificial intelligence, tourism and hospitality, and restaurants and cafes. It will also connect qualified disabled individuals directly with employers seeking skilled personnel. This will enable employers to fulfill the requirements of Article 28 of the Labor Law, which stipulates employing 4% of the total workforce from the special needs category whenever possible. Additionally, the initiative provides employers with a way to fulfill their social responsibility commitments, aligning with international best practices for inclusion in employment.
Commenting on the initiative’s launch, Dr. May Taibah, Director of Bab Rizq Jameel and a member of the Board of Trustees of Community Jameel Saudi, stated: “The launch of the initiative to employ people with disabilities reaffirms Community Jameel Saudi Foundation’s commitment to supporting and empowering people with disabilities in the Kingdom. The initiative is a result of joint efforts by Bab Rizq Jameel and the “Hemam Jameel Program”, which deploys a comprehensive approach to provide training and job opportunities. This initiative will empower people with disabilities to achieve their ambitions and demonstrate their abilities and potential.”
This initiative offers several advantages compared to other employment programs, such as training programs that are specifically designed for different disability groups, including the deaf, the blind, and those with mobility limitations. Graduates from these programs are then linked with job opportunities suitable for their specific needs. Furthermore, the initiative aims to change the stereotypical image of people with disabilities by highlighting their abilities, potentials, and success stories within the community. Bab Rizq Jameel invites all job seekers and employers to participate in the initiative.
