Nafisa Shams Company Launches the Crafts Experiences Series
- Women Empowerment
As part of its ongoing efforts to empower Saudi women in the field of arts and crafts, Nafisa Shams for Arts and Crafts Company has launched a series of monthly women’s meetups titled “Crafts Experiences” since early 2024. These meetups aim to enrich the arts and crafts sector by connecting experts with enthusiasts and offering them a platform for exchanging skills and knowledge. The initiative is designed to support women, inspire them to enter the arts and crafts sectors, and equip them with the knowledge and skills necessary to succeed in the labor marketplace.
The workshops are supported by the Community Jameel Foundation, the parent organization of Nafisa Shams Company, as part of its “Women Empowerment” area of development, which addresses both social and economic aspects. Since the beginning of the series in January 2024 in Jeddah, the company has organized seven meetups, attended by over 350 female participants, and with 84,912 online views of the events and their highlights. The sessions featured specialists and professionals from various fields, ensuring high-quality content and effective guidance for participants.
These interactive meetups were designed to inspire learning and encourage participation, offering an open space for sharing knowledge and practicing hands-on experience. So far, the sessions have covered a wide range of exciting topics, such as Abaya Design, Photography, Flower Arranging, Carpentry, Hand Embroidery, Arabic Calligraphy, and more. These topics provide participants with the opportunity to acquire new skills and develop their talents in a supportive and motivating environment.
Commenting on the series, Dr. May Taibah, Deputy Managing Director of Nafisa Shams, said: “We are proud to launch the series of Craft Experiences Meetups, which aims to empower Saudi women in the labor market. This aligns with our vision of creating a nourishing environment that encourages women to become innovative and creative and contribute to the sustainable development of our society.” She added: “The impact of these meetups is not limited to economic empowerment, but they will also play a role in preserving and promoting Saudi arts and crafts, and ensuring the preservation of our cultural heritage to pass it down through generations.”
Nafisa Shams invites all women interested in benefiting from these opportunities to register for the Craft Experiences series through its social media channels. Participants will have the opportunity to develop their skills, unlock their creative potential, and become part of an inspiring community that fosters innovation.
